Storm Comix

I haven't posted any journal comics in a while, so I thought I'd share some scenes from my time before, during, and after Sandy. Enjoy!

Grow Up

Some more TF story sketches for your perusal!

Check out that pie getting eaten at the start of the third page. I can't wait to draw that. It's gonna be the best part of the whole comic.

Semi-formal

When we last left Toilet-face and his misbegotten autumnal adventures, things were about as low as they could get. Things get a little lower still in these new sketches! But no fear, things just might turn around for him. And I just might finally finish this project!

Planes & Trains

I've got a lot of finished comics I've gotta keep under wraps for now, so in their stead here are a bunch of sketches from my holiday travels between New York and good ol' Western PA.

And of course travel is always worth it when there's an adorable dog at the end of the journey:

Breadcrumbs

Today I've got a smattering of comics sketches from the past month or so that I'd like to share, so here we go!

A journal comic from the first chilly day of fall:

From early October, my good friend Kenny and I witness an Occupy Wall Street march in the Village, and hit a brick wall of willful ignorance:

Stupid:

This little gag just got worked into something bigger, so consider this a sneak peek. Yes, the brick wall is a Peanuts reference.

Sketchpost

It's been a while since I've posted any sketches, so here's a lot of strange miscellany from my sketchbook!

This comic is way funnier unfinished than whatever I had planned:

Tunnel of Love era Bruce:

Terribly drawn, but kind of funnier for it:

This is my friend Mike, being attacked by bees.

Self portrait with tattoo ideas.

Comic Sketches

One of the things I'm working on right now is a short comic, about 5-6 pages, about a couple of teens in suburbia and their desultory relationship, which I'm currently pencilling. I'll be showing more progress, but for now here are some character sketches.

For the girl, I had a pretty clear idea how I wanted her to look. These sketches were mostly about figuring out body shape and proportion... the bad sketches are noted as such. The ideal is something more along the lines of the crying one.

I was less sure about the guy, so I had to go through various little heads before I found what I liked. Finding the right balance of cute and sketchy was one of the main concerns. You can also see one of my sketches of the two of them together, getting an idea for their proportional relationship. He's older so he's taller with a smaller head, etc, etc...

More to come!
