Gabba Gabba Hey

Hey! Atomic Books' annual toy show Vinylmore is nearly upon us again. This year the show is Munnyland, and I'm going to have two Munnys in the show. The first to be completed is this guy, a (temporarily) unnamed lil' punk pretty openly based on this painting I did a few months back.

He's a mini Munny, so with his 'hawk he measures around 5 or so inches high.

Vinylmore 3: Munnyland opens April 2nd at 8PM. Info at Atomic Books or ol' Facebook.

Punk

So here's the painted piece that actually came out how I'd hoped.

The first layer- I scanned it out of fear that I'd ruin it!

Sketches I did after the first layer, trying to get an idea of how to fill it out:

More painted stuff

This one is honestly pretty ugly but has a germ of something I like in it- a sort of flustery blowhard English prof kinda guy. Will possibly try to do an un-ugly version soon.

This dude is better but still not 100% (sloppy linework in spots, lots of empty dead space) but there you go.

I'm working on another painted piece right now that I've approached as more of a final, so I'll post that soon- as soon as I fix the giant screw-up I just made on it! Bleeeh!

Christmas cheer

It's that time of year where Vince Guaraldi starts loopin' in my iTunes over and over, so here's some paintings I did just for fun. Acrylic on construction paper, for that extra kiddie feelin'.

Jacket

I intended to screenprint this jacket a long, long time ago. Well, the printing was never completed, so I finished it a few days ago by hand!
Hand-painted, men's size small lined work-style jacket. If anyone is interested in buying just contact me!

Something from the sketchbook

I'm in the middle of slowly, slowly painting some Munnys and while I had my paints out today I was playing around in my sketchbook and this was one thing that came out.

NYC and More

Hit up NYC to see friends and check out MoCCA, here are just a few bits and pieces from the sketchbook. In order, there's the redheaded hip hopping white guy from every bad teen movie, me in the 95 degree heat, a typical dorky yet hip NYC male, and some super sketchy panels for something that may eventually involve Toilet-face.

More Movie Stuff

Some more preliminary sketches. 2 Robocop, 1 Commando.

Sketchpost

Just a few things from the sketchbook, holding to my plans to keep painting, and including the beginning of some movie-themed illustrations for a potential collaborative project.
A guy who may have something to do with Jerry Orbach, an ugly painting, and Robocop, in an intimate moment unseen in the movie, after being shot up, regarding his injuries.

I started a new sketchbook!

And decided to paint in it. I think I'll keep doing this, although probably with better paint next time (my cheap acrylic is almost unscannably shiny!)
