A Clockwork Orange

I recently did illustrations for Glass Orchid, a great little zine covering top-rate music and film. The most recent issue was Clockwork Orange themed, so I was super pumped to do a couple pieces for them. GO mastermind Mark gave me free reign so this was a ton of fun.

Here's the centerfold I drew:

I also did the back cover:

Movie Night

I've spent Valentine's Day watching Full Metal Jacket, so trust me, I know my stuff.

Rainy Night, New York

The text is dialogue taken from one of my favorite films, "Deadline at Dawn," a curious little noir film from 1946 with a great screenplay by Clifford Odets. This page is an homage to the movie but also to life in NYC itself.

"This is New York, where hello means goodbye."

Explosion

Just a rough sketch for this post, something that reflects in a really obvious way that I had just rewatched "Heat" for some reason or other. Also, I was reading "Kirby: King of Comics" (which is great, just for those huge, full-page prints of some of his original art, not to mention his story), hence those Kirby-type dots in the background. They're addictive to do!

Oh man oh man

Have you seen The Dark Knight yet? We saw it last weekend (on an Imax dome screen no less!) and somehow managed to leave even more excited than when we went in. And so this, which is really just a sketch I went ahead and colored for fun.

Touch of Evil

Evan in a highly improvised costume as the night hotel manager from "Touch of Evil," for a cinematography project Laura did recently... and posing for quite possibly my favorite portrait ever.
